The Nifty Auto index also posted a robust gain, rising 445.95 points or 1.71% to close at 26,463.05, with a day’s range of 26,319.60 to 26,655.60.

Nifty Realty added 1.50%, settling at 786.05, while Nifty Metal advanced 0.56% to 13,345.65. Nifty Pharma edged up 0.41% to 24,674.70, and Nifty IT lagged the broader market with a modest gain of 0.23%, closing at 28,979.85 after touching an intraday high of 29,177.80.

Among the top gainers on the Nifty 50, Bajaj Finance led the pack, closing at ₹941.90 with a gain of 2.77%. Larsen & Toubro followed at ₹4,033.40, up 2.72%, while HDFC Bank rose 2.61% to ₹786.85. Kotak Mahindra Bank gained 2.26% to end at ₹392.85, and ICICI Bank rounded out the top five with a 2.18% advance to ₹1,291.80.

On the losing side, ONGC was the sharpest decliner, falling 1.74% to close at ₹284.95. Infosys shed 0.51% to ₹1,168.50, and TCS declined 0.39% to ₹2,308.20. Hindustan Unilever slipped 0.32% to ₹2,196.50, while Sun Pharma dipped 0.22% to ₹1,840.60. Losses across these counters were comparatively shallow against the day’s otherwise strong gains.

Every index in Monday’s data closed higher, pointing to broad buying pressure across the market. Financial stocks were particularly prominent in driving the day’s advance, with banking names dominating both the sectoral and individual stock gainers.
